Countdown to the Holidays: Key Dates for Late 2026

The last three months of the year are the most crowded on the calendar. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year arrive within nine weeks of each other, and each one comes with travel to book, food to order, gifts to send and time off to request. Weeks suit the big, early decisions. Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel periods of the year in the US, and "eight weeks until Thanksgiving" is a clearer prompt to book flights than a number of days. Weeks also match how most people plan work and leave.

Days suit the middle stretch: ordering costumes for Halloween, planning a menu, or setting a gift budget before Christmas. At this point the date is close enough that every few days change what's possible.
